Power and Privilege: Moving Toward Allyship

This workshop will explore power and privilege in the interpreting community. The audience will examine the basics of the concept of power and privilege and expand on it to further examine the roles ASL interpreters have as hearing people in the deaf and hard of hearing world. Throughout the day, audience members will increase awareness about how their interpreting work with Deaf, DeafBlind and hard of hearing people are influenced by their power and privilege and share w okays it has impacted their work, their relationships and their decision-making. The presentation will include video, small group activities and lecture.
