I wanted to share an update with you related to COVID-19 and the impact that it is having on our members.
The Board recognizes the challenges and frustrations that our membership is experiencing at this time. During the open Board meeting on April 15th, the Board passed the following motion:
I move as a response to our complex emergency The RID Board of Directors temporarily suspend the enforcement of the sections of the RID Bylaws and the PPM relative to Member Dues & Fees because of the current pandemic. Further, the RID Board and/or HQ will provide published information on how RID will navigate members’ needs for flexibility while maintaining organizational financial stability. Maker: Yakata Nichols, Treasurer; Second: LaTanya Jones, Member at Large
The Board’s intent with this motion is to add an extension to the deadline. Previously, dues were to be paid on or before June 30th, and there was a one-month grace period (July 31st) before certifications would be revoked. The Board also decided to extend the current payment deadline until at least October 31, 2020. The Board and Headquarters will continue to monitor the situation, and adjust as needed.
We want to emphasize that members will still be considered full RID members, without penalty, until October 31, 2020. We have attached a letter (below) which may be useful if you need to prove your full membership status. If you have any questions about this message, or about the letter, please feel free to reach us at email@example.com.
Thank you, and stay safe and healthy.
